आरोप है कि आफताब ने 18 मई को श्रद्धा की गलादबाकर हत्या की थी. इसके बाद उसने श्रद्धा के शव के 35 टुकड़े किए. अगले दिन उसने फ्रिज खरीदा. इसी फ्रिज में आफताब ने श्रद्धा के शव के टुकड़ों को रखा था. वह रोज रात में एक टुकड़े को महरौली जंगल में फेंकने के लिए जाता था. आफताब श्रद्धा की हत्या के बाद भी उसी फ्लैट में रहता रहा.
